Drug, Alcohol and Cannabis Reasonable Suspicion-Virtual

Drug, alcohol and cannabis use among employees put them (and other employees), the public and your company at great risk. Companies and organizations of all sizes have an important role promoting the health and safety of employees and managing risk in the workplace. By implementing policies and providing training you can help eliminate potential danger. This program will help you recognize signs and symptoms of drug, alcohol and cannabis use among employees. Tips for handling different scenarios, the definition of safety sensitive and recommendations for implementing strong policies will be reviewed.

This virtual training will cover the physical, behavioral, speech, and performance indicators of probable alcohol misuse and use of controlled substances. General confrontational techniques for when drug/alcohol use is suspected will be discussed.

*This course meets DOT one-hour drug and one-hour alcohol training requirements for supervisors (49 CFR 382.603)

Objective: For workplace supervisors to recognize and react to workplace impairment.

  • Reasonable suspicion - What is it?
  • Physical manifestations of alcohol, drug, cannabis use.
  • Identification of groups of drugs and their effects.
  • What is a safety-sensitive position?
  • New potential policy language.
