Are your employees working with or potentially exposed to hazardous substances or harmful agents such as chemicals, particulates, noise, heat, or radiation? Have you established a written Hazard Communication or Employee Right-To-Know program? Do you provide training to your employees every year on protecting themselves while at work? Employees in almost every industry encounter many of these, which necessitates that the majority of employers implement a proper Hazard Communication/Employee Right-To-Know program. However, citations involving these requirements continue to be within OSHA’s “top ten” every year, as many employers are not aware of how the requirements apply to their operations. This course addresses BOTH General Industry and Construction, and is intended for managers/supervisors, superintendents, leads/foremen, safety personnel and trainers. Topics include:
- Overview of hazardous materials and toxic substances
- Overview of harmful physical agents (noise, heat-stress, cold-stress, radiation)
- Overview of infectious agents (plants, animals, viruses, bacteria, molds)
- Workplace evaluation and hazard classification
- OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200)
- Minnesota’s Employee Right-to-Know Standard
- Globally Harmonized System (GHS)
- Safety data sheets and labeling
- Training and communication
- Written program requirements
This course is intended to help employers recognize and understand exposure to hazardous materials, toxic substances, harmful physical agents, and infectious agents, and further develop and implement an effective Hazard Communication/Employee Right-To-Know training and communication program. This course does NOT constitute the actual training required under Federal OSHA’s “Hazard Communication” or Minnesota’s “Employee Right-To-Know” standards.
