Myth: If an employer receives a machine from a manufacturer that is not properly guarded, the machine is “grandfathered” from guarding requirements.
Truth: The employer is responsible to ensure that all machines and equipment are properly guarded to protect workers from inadvertently coming into contact with all moving parts.
Did you know that machine guarding is one of the leading causes of serious injuries to workers throughout the United States? Did you know that machine guarding is one of the most commonly issued citations by OSHA? Every year, powered machines and equipment pose one of the most prevalent threats to workers. This course will help develop an understanding of basic machine-guarding principles, navigate through various regulatory and design standards (e.g. OSHA, ANSI, ASME), and strengthen an employers ability to conduct a hazard assessment. This course addresses BOTH General Industry and Construction, and is intended for operators, technicians, maintenance, engineers, managers/supervisors, superintendents, leads/foremen, safety personnel and trainers.
