This course is intended to “keep it simple”, and provide an “intro” to electrical hazards, principles of design and installation, technical familiarity, and installation and use requirements. The goal of this course is to help participants recognize electrical-hazards, simplify the technical and overwhelming nomenclature, and provide a plain-language understanding of the various requirements. This course is not only for non-electricians (e.g. safety personnel, supervisors, maintenance), but be helpful to even the most seasoned electricians. Topics include:
- Nature and hazards of electrical energy
- Overview of relevant standards (e.g. OSHA, NFPA)
- Protection of energized conductors
- Wiring design and protection
- Flexible cords and cables
- Hazardous locations
- Intro to Safe Electrical Work Practices and NFPA 70E
- Disconnecting means and working clearances
- Overhead power-lines
Virtual Instructor Led Training Requirements:
Students are required to have video and audio capability and must
remain visible to the instructor and facilitator throughout the class.
Additionally, students may not use a phone to participate in the
training or view the presentation. Students who are unable to meet these
requirements will not be permitted to attend
